PLC Programmer

Your Tasks
- Prepare functional descriptions of process controls and sequence operations.
- Develop and support of PLC and HMI programs for use on industrial equipment.
- Integrate specialized hardware and software into manufacturing systems to enhance automation and control with an emphasis on efficiency.
- Commission and troubleshoot robotic applications, troubleshooting of process problems and complete quality improvements as required to maintain part standards.
- Assist with electrical/programming issues, assist in the training of staff on electronic equipment.
- Responsible to keep proper documentation of changes to the programs, maintains and upgrades in PLC software.
- Analyse record and chart documentation required for maintenance records and projects.
- Service, maintain, repair, install and test new or existing equipment and verify conformance to specifications.
- Assist with start-up, commission, and support on customer sites.
- Collaborate directly with project managers/leads and electrical staff.
- Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with safety policies.
- Responsible for the completion of necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
- Judgement – exercises judgement re:
- Adherence to all Occupational Health & Safety Act standards/IATF 16949/ISO14001
- Accountability – is accountable in areas of:
- Accountable for maintaining accuracy and correctness of all documentation
- Contacts – establishes/maintains relationships:
- Employees at various levels throughout Maintenance, Production, Tool Room, Press Shop, Quality and Engineering

Your Profile
Work Experience
- A minimum of 5 years “hands-on” automated control system experience from an integrator.
- Proven record of PLC programming, familiarity with Allen Bradley, Siemens.
- Familiar with Vision products, Motor drives, Valve banks, Tooling ECT.
- Experience in developing and writing work instructions.
- Experience and knowledge in automation industry.
- Experience in custom automation is considered a strong asset.
Skills (language, technical, computer etc.)
- Sound problem-solving skills, including problem identification and solutions from a personal and team level.
- Must have strong decision-making skills, can work well under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principals is considered a strong asset.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
Education
- Completion of a technical diploma program from an accredited college/university or must possess equivalent qualifications/education
