Suzhou is a historical town in the middle of the Yangtze River Delta. It is famous for its traditional gardens, silk, embroidery and opera.
Suzhou is most famous for its traditional gardens and silk. As early as the Tang and Song dynasties, Suzhou was the silk centre of China, and its exquisite silk products were sold both domestically and overseas. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Suzhou's gardens were very well developed, skillfully blending natural beauty with the art of architecture. There are over 60 well-preserved classical gardens in Suzhou, many of which are on the World Heritage List.
