A Slightly Different Type of Training

In the summer of 2018, our new hot forming line (HoFo) in Ovar/Portugal will start operation. In preparation, a core team from various functional areas take part in an intensive and somewhat different, type of training course.

“This training was very important for the group and me. It helps us a lot by putting our knowledge into practice," says tool maintenance technician, Ricardo Carneiro. His colleague Hélder Gomes adds, "The topics of material analysis, material structure and composition were particularly interesting. The new knowledge will help us meet our customers' requirements for hot formed parts." Together with nine other colleagues from our plant in Ovar/Portugal, the training group took part in a special course that included support and exchange in best practices from our plants in Iserlohn, Esztergom, and Gliwice – locations where hot forming lines are already operating. In addition, the Ovar plant has started a partnership with Aveiro University, where the theoretical and scientific training for the HoFo core team takes place.

"Thanks to this theoretical training, we understand better the basic concepts of the hot forming process," explains production supervisor José Velosa. Human Resources Manager, António Rosas, is very satisfied with the result, "I'm particularly happy about the training success of our colleagues. I see the cooperation with the university as the beginning of a permanent and mutual exchange of experience between our employees and students of the school.”
