Senior Payroll Specialist
at our site in Troy

Your Tasks

• To effectively process & monitor payroll of Salary employees the Troy office and provide support or backup to the US plants when necessary.

• Manage Troy Payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salary payrolls, including temporary personnel on a pay period basis. Ensures Payroll is in full compliance with KIRCHHOFF Automotive Policy.

• Identifying any areas of improvement within the payroll process and leading the implementation of new payroll processes and systems

• Manage and maintain Payroll system with new hires, terminations, department changes, rate changes, “Reports to” and absences such as leave of absences, short term disabilities, etc. in a timely manner.

• Identifying any areas of improvement within the payroll process and leading the implementation of new payroll processes and systems.

• Respond to third party inquiries for employee garnishments, records of employment, government related issues etc.

• Responsible for supporting audits, communicating issues, documenting, and overseeing resolution plans for internal and external audits

• Process expense payment and files expense reports.

• Respond to all employee pay inquiries in a timely manner.

• Provide customized reports and new payroll codes as each plant requires.

• Assist Controller with year-end budget, forecast and month-end.

• Process merit and bonus annually.

• Prepare other weekly & monthly ad-hoc reports & any other reasonable request made by management

• Manage both payroll systems security access. Support and train new users.

• Manage and update annually in payroll systems, all earning & deductible rates in compliance with federal and state requirements.

• Prepare all payroll journal entries and reconciliations in a timely manner and enter into SAP.

• Assists in the Quarterly and Annual tax reconciliation in an outsourced tax remittance vendor environment (including managing state unemployment rates).

• Maintaining confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards while representing KIRCHHOFF Automotive or during the use of any KIRCHHOFF Automotive provided equipment.

• Liaises with Human Resources on employee-related pay issues as required.

• Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.

 

Your Profile

Work Experience (provide details and minimum # of years required)

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar environment
  • Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Skills (language, technical, computer etc.)

  • Uses positive interpersonal skills to deal with all employees within organization.
  • Effective use of problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Practices confidentiality, diplomacy and timeliness
  • Computer skills (i.e. MS Office)
  • Detail oriented

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
