Tool mechanic
"As a tool mechanic I practice a very diversified and ambitious job. Every day I have the possibility to grow from new small challenges."

Marlon, Apprentice as a tool mechanic at our plant in Attendorn
"As a tool mechanic I am responsible for the complete repair and maintenance of tools, I mount complex tools, check their function and forward them to production. In the morning I at first have a look into a list showing me what tools have to be repaired or overhauled.
A typical defect are dulled die edges, so that the metal sheets cannot be cut correctly, similar to a dull scissors. By means of a surface grinding machine I file down the die, underlay it with a new shim and mount the die again into the tool. The other day I got a call that ready parts after production in the machine did not fall into the container provided for it, as the slide was deformed. Also in that case my engagement was needed – always something new."
