Process Engineer

Your Tasks

Responsibilities

 

Investigates/implements improvements to facet of manufacturing/production. 

Participates on any project teams as a team member or leader and provides the team with expertise, direction and advice.

Responsible as a team leader to manage the projects by documenting each meeting, establishing timelines, goals, objectives and working within budget parameters.

Monitors the progress of jobs being performed by vendor(s), Tool and/or Maintenance room and provides direction as necessary.

Facilitate training sessions to internal employees on an as needed basis (may include welding, robotics, PLC)

Responsible for documenting current projects e.g. cost, quotes, pay back, timelines, goals, etc. and provides information to management. 

Co-ordinates the implementation of ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices), internally or customer driven. 

Responsible for updating and product related documentation, e.g. set-up and operator instruction sheets, etc. and providing operator training as required. Assists operators in trouble shooting issues related to new equipment and provides recommendations on corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.

Deals with customers on continuous improvement activities directly related to part/component Van-Rob is manufacturing. 

Train maintenance employees on how to maintain equipment and follow procedures when troubleshooting for equipment related to the Continuous Improvement projects.

Works co-operatively with Program Manager on new product launches to develop the budget and equipment acquisition when requested. 

Team member on various Continuous Improvement teams within the organization. 

Any other reasonable request made by management. 

Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.

Ensures he/she is in full compliance with federal laws and/or any other state, while representing KVRW or during the use of any KVRW provided equipment.

 

Your Profile

Qualifications Work Experience (provide details and minimum # of years required) •

Minimum 5-10 years' experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive stampings, welding, mechanical and modular assemblies Skills (language, technical, computer etc.) Skills – What skills are required to perform the work?

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 

Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate, lead and build/maintain relationships. 

Sound computer skills, e.g. MS Word, Excel, Project, Cad Key, GroupWise 

Ability to deal with conflict and/or resistance. 

Effective use of problem solving and decision-making skills 

Ability to analyze information received from a variety of sources and provide recommendations Knowledge – What knowledge of methods, procedures, equipment/technology are required? •

Rules, regulations and applicable legislation governing environmental regulations 

Thorough knowledge of TS 16949/ISO 14001, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ergonomics, Time Studies, Robotics and Industrial Relations 

Knowledge of welding processes including projection, mig and laser 

Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings. 

Sound understanding of Geometric Dimensioning + Tolerancing Judgment – Exercises judgment re: 

Handling various types of personalities when facilitating a Continuous Improvement team to achieve optimum success of project. 

Ability to identify improvement opportunities that contribute to quality and cost while still meeting customer requirements. Accountability – Is accountable in areas of: 

Responsible for meeting budget parameters determined for each project associated with the purchasing of new equipment. 

Accountable for meeting established project timelines. 

Maintain and update required documents in compliance with TS 16949 standards. Contacts – Establishes/maintains relationships:
