Development in Hungary
Following the strategy of establishing our own production facilities in close proximity to those of our customers, KIRCHHOFF Automotive opened a plant in Hungary in 2004, thanks to its business relationship with Suzuki. The Hungarian location of KIRCHHOFF Automotive-situated in Esztergom-neighbours the Suzuki plant in the local industrial park.
Following the opening of the plant in Hungary, KIRCHHOFF Automotive was able to continue expanding its customer base and thereby strengthen its market position. In order to meet the increased demand from additional automobile manufacturers in 2011, capacity in the Hungarian plant was once again significantly expanded. A new workshop for a transfer press was built, and the first laser cutting machine went into operation. Because of the intense demand for hot-formed parts for automotive lightweight construction, two hot forming lines were established in Hungary in the years 2012 and 2013. By now, KIRCHHOFF Automotive is therefore the only company who operates hot forming lines in Hungary.
In line with the corporate strategy of KIRCHHOFF Automotive, Hungary was able to add two new Asian customers, KIA and Hyundai to the customer portfolio in the years 2017 and 2018. Today the Hungarian plant sells 68% of its products to Central Eastern European customers. Besides its JIT focus on Magyar Suzuki, the plant primarily supplies premium OEMs in the region like Daimler, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Porsche.
