Capital & Tooling Buyer

Your Tasks

  • Source Capital and Tooling for all of North America
  • Manage engineering change RFQ related to Capital and Tooling on time and to budget
  • Negotiating contract for the best price and delivery time
  • Build/maintain relationships with suppliers
  • Deliver annual cost reduction saving plans to meet procurement targets
    • Work on supplier consolidation per procurement department goals
    • Improve networking capital by extending supplier terms
    • As a part of the global capital and tooling team you will develop strategies for North America
    • Process contracts and update management on status of orders
    • Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions
  • Conducts market research and analysis to identify new and cost competitive suppliers  
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to analyze performance and market trends
  • Conduct supplier risk assessment
  • Generate and maintain score cards and review performance with suppliers during business reviews
  • Maintain a sourcing tracker for all new programs (including savings, timing and contracts terms)
  • Manage all procurement data and equipment documentation in CDB
  • Ensure Capital and Tooling sourcing meets program budgets and time
  • Work with Engineering to assess suppliers based on technical and commercial competitiveness
  • Manage all SAP contracts, contract protocol, Capex requirements and cash out reporting
  • Present supplier recommendation in conjunction with engineering department
  • Continuously monitor supplier financial status, capacity and capabilities
  • Negotiating Rebate Agreements with suppliers and maintain tracking.
  • Assess, evaluate and manage supplier development utilizing score cards and annual business reviews
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and estimation department on technical and financial variance. Support new acquisition RFQ with hard quotes when requested
  • Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.
  • Ensures he/she is in full compliance with the laws of Ontario and/or any other province or state, while representing KIRCHHOFF Automotive or during the use of any KIRCHHOFF Automotive provided equipment.
  • Any other reasonable request made by management
  • Must be able to travel to all KIRCHHOFF Automotive facilities and suppliers as required

Your Profile

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years’ Experience with stamping dies, checking fixtures, press equipment, MIG, spot, laser welding and joining technologies
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and IATF 16949/ISO 14001 requirements
  • Understanding of supplier cost factors related to stamping dies and checking fixtures and joining technologies

  • Excellent negotiation and decisions making skills
  • Able to manage time effectively, priorities tasks and achieve set targets

  • Computer skills, i.e. SAP, JAGGAER, CDB, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint

Education

  • Supply chain management diploma with relevant technical experience in manufacturing/engineering
  • University Degree or College Diploma in any automotive technical field or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a purchasing team preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment
