Process Engineer

Your Tasks

  • Be the lead engineering contact for all weld related activity, documentation, process development and improvement; reporting to the plant Engineering Manager.
  • Report daily to management team regarding any assigned safety, quality or delivery issues.
  • Support operations, maintenance and quality with all weld related activity.
  • Manage all weld process sheets and parameters.
  • Work with the support of Corporate Engineering on weld stepper development.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities.
  • Support quality and manufacturing with cut and etch validation.
  • Work with maintenance on all weld parameters including positional and weld schedule related changes.
  • Support other manufacturing engineering activities as assigned.
  • Effectively understand and lead the correct interpretation of customer weld specs.
  • Assist in procure estimates for equipment and process improvements.
  • Assist in supporting to take equipment from quotation to installation for new programs and/or change to existing programs as a result of engineering changes.
  • Present improvement recommendations to Engineering Manager for final approval.
  • Support for process development, program documentation and the creation of Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA’s), process flow charts, capability studies, Design of Experiments (DOE’s), etc., in conjunction with input from team members.
  • Contribute to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that compliments the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (separate, simplify, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.
  • Ability to travel as required for training or as needed on minimal basis.
  • Participate on various Continuous Improvement teams within the organization.
  • Support any other reasonable request made by management.
  • Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline.

           

 

Your Profile

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the automotive industry with exposure to resistance welding, drawn-arc stud welding and production MIG welding.
  • Strong knowledge automotive assembly processing.
  • General knowledge of automated assembly processes for automotive sheet-metal assemblies.

Preferred experience with camera / vision systems.

  • Sound understanding TS16949/ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Working knowledge of automotive processes.
  • Computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, CAD.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to handle multi-tasks and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and exercises sound judgement
