Gliwice: From simple welding to state-of-the-art press hardening

“Today, it becomes increasingly difficult to find a car in which no part of KIRCHHOFF Automotive is installed“— with this sentence Managing Director Rafał Lechowski highlighted the wide product range at KIRCHHOFF Automotive at the gala for the 10th anniversary of our plant in Gliwice’s economic zone. The ceremony took place on 23rd May in the new production hall.

Rafał Lechowski talked about the beginnings and the further developments of the plant in the last ten years: "It all began with renting a hall from the mechanics company Bumar Łabędy. Back then a team of 80 people welded simple elements for the Opel plant in Gliwice. Since then we have strongly concentrated on education, have taught our employees new technologies. Today we are a team of 600 people and our plant has reached the size of 41,000 m².”

And with the new hot forming line the plant now possesses another technology – press hardening. The introduction of the line was the highlight of the event, without a doubt. Another highlight was Katherine Worthen’s speech, the General Motors Vice President of Purchasing and Supply Chain for Europe. There, she stressed how great the long-term partnership with our company in Gliwice has been. Especially in our constant efforts to find innovative solutions and to use modern technologies, was also recognized by her.

Our plant has contributed immensely to the dynamic development of the local economy in Gliwice. Many representatives of the local authorities were also invited to the anniversary celebrations.

In the name of the family, owner Arndt G. Kirchhoff wished all employees at the location in Gliwice many more years of high productivity, increased work and success.

In the day prior to the anniversary celebrations, all Gliwice employees as well as their families were invited to the Family Day in Rybnik-Kamien. The Family Day was combined with an international soccer tournament. You can find more pictures here in our picture gallery.
